한국의류학회지는 최근 생성형 인공지능(Generative AI) 기술의 확산과 학술 연구 환경의 변화에 대응하여 투고규정, 연구윤리규정, 논문심사규정을 일부 개정하였으며, Web of Science ESCI 재심사를 위한 연구윤리규정 보완을 시행하였습니다.

[생성형 인공지능(AI) 관련 학회 규정 마련의 배경]

인공지능(Artificial Intelligence, AI) 기술은 급속한 속도로 발전하고 있으며 특히 최근 생성형 인공지능 기술의 발전으로 AI의 텍스트와 이미지 생성 능력이 인간 수준에 근접하거나 혹은 그 이상의 완성도를 가지게 되었습니다. 이에 많은 연구자들이 연구의 전 단계에 다양한 인공지능기술의 적용을 시도하고 있는 상황입니다. 본 학회지는 연구자의 AI 활용에 대해 부정적인 입장을 가지고 있지 아니하며 혹은 논문 작성 과정에서의 적용을 전면적으로 금지하고자 하는 것은 아닙니다. 본 학회지는 연구자가 동시대의 다양한 과학 기술 발달에 대해 적극적으로 탐색하고 이러한 기술을 연구 목적의 달성과 학문적 성과 향상에 도움이 될 수 있도록 활용하는 것을 지지합니다.

그러나 과학적 연구에서 AI 활용에 대한 학술적 합의가 아직 확립되지 않은 상황에서, AI의 무분별하거나 부적절한 사용과 활용 과정에 대한 비공개 문제 등이 제기되고 있습니다. 이에 최근 한국연구재단은 「생성형 인공지능 도구의 책임 있는 사용을 위한 권고사항」을 발표하였으며, 본 학회지 또한 이에 부응하여 생성형 AI 활용에 대한 규정을 마련하고자 합니다. 한국의류학회지의 생성형 인공지능(AI) 활용과 관련된 내용은 연구윤리규정에 명시하며 편집자, 심사자를 위한 논문심사규정과 투고자를 위한 투고규정도 일관된 내용이 추가되도록 수정합니다. 또한, 가까운 미래에 이 분야에서의 급속한 발전이 예상됨에 따라, 본 학회지는 관련 규정을 정기적으로 검토하고 필요 시 수정·보완하고자 합니다.

[주요 개정 내용]

1) 생성형 인공지능(AI) 관련 조항 신설 (투고규정, 연구윤리규정, 논문심사규정)

- 저자: 생성형 인공지능(AI) 사용 여부 및 사용 내용(목적 · 범위 등) 명시 의무화

- 편집위원/심사위원: 심사 과정에서 생성형 인공지능(AI) 사용 금지

- 생성형 인공지능(AI) 사용 범위: 언어 · 문장 표현 개선의 보조 용도로만 사용 가능하며, 문장 창작과 도표 및 이미지의 생성·변형·합성에는 사용 제한 (단, 인공지능 기술 자체를 연구 대상으로 하거나, 자료의 수집 및 분석 과정에 활용한 연구는 예외로 하되, 이러한 경우 저자는 해당 사실을 연구 방법(Method)에서 상세히 기술해야 함.)

2) 연구윤리규정 보완

- 인간대상 연구의 익명성 보장 및 사전 동의 명시 의무화

- 심사 중 윤리 문제 발생 시 게재불가 조치 가능, 출판 후 정정 및 취소 절차와 기준 명확화

[논문심사규정 개정 적용 기준 안내]

• 개정·시행일: 2026년 1월 2일

[투고규정·연구윤리규정 개정 및 시행 적용 기준 안내]

• 개정일: 2026년 1월 2일

• 시행일: 2026년 3월 2일
   (개정일로부터 약 2개월의 유예기간 적용)

개정된 투고규정 및 연구윤리규정은 시행일 이후 투고되는 논문부터 투고일을 기준으로 적용됩니다.

다만 학술지 발간 일정과 심사·게재 절차의 특성상, 발간되는 학술지 호별로 개정 규정이 전면 적용되는 시점을 일괄적으로 특정하기에는 현실적인 한계가 있어, 시행일 이후 일정 기간 동안은 기존 규정 적용 논문과 개정 규정 적용 논문이 동일 호에 혼재하여 게재될 수 있습니다.

이에 따라 개정된 투고규정이 학술지 호 기준으로 전면 적용되는 시점은 시행일 이후 약 6개월 내외로 예상되며, 해당 기간은 규정 적용의 안정화 단계로 운영될 예정입니다.

회원 여러분께서는 논문 투고 시 개정된 규정에 따른 생성형 AI 활용 범위 및 사용 사실 고지(declaration) 요건을 확인하신 후 투고해 주시기 바랍니다.

In response to the recent proliferation of generative artificial intelligence (AI) technologies and changes in the scholarly research environment, the Journal of the Korean Society of Clothing and Textiles has revised its Guidelines for Manuscript Submission, Code of Research Ethics, and Regulation on the Review Process. Additionally, enhancements have been made to the Code of Research Ethics in preparation for the Web of Science ESCI re-evaluation.

[Background for the Generative AI Provisions]

Artificial intelligence (AI) technologies are advancing rapidly. Recent progress in generative AI has enabled systems to produce text and images that approach or even exceed human-level quality. As a result, many researchers are applying AI at various stages of the research workflow.

The Journal does not take a negative stance on researchers’ use of AI, nor does it seek to impose a blanket prohibition on its use in manuscript preparation. The Journal encourages responsible engagement with contemporary scientific and technological advances and supports the use of such tools, where appropriate, to achieve legitimate research objectives and enhance scholarly outcomes.

However, in the absence of an established academic consensus on the use of artificial intelligence (AI) in scientific research, concerns have been raised regarding the indiscriminate or inappropriate use of AI, as well as the lack of transparency in AI-assisted research processes. In response, the National Research Foundation of Korea has recently issued the Guidelines for the Responsible Use of Generative Artificial Intelligence Tools, and accordingly, this journal seeks to establish regulations governing the use of generative AI. These provisions are set out in the Code of Research Ethics, and consistent provisions have been added to the Regulation on the Review Process (for editors and reviewers) and the Guidelines for Manuscript Submission (for authors). Given the rapid pace of developments in this field, the Journal will review these provisions on a regular basis and revise or supplement them as necessary.

[Key Updates]

1) Generative Artificial Intelligence (AI) (Guidelines for Manuscript Submission, Code of Research Ethics, Regulation on the Review Process)

- Authors: Required to disclose whether generative AI was used and to specify usage details (e.g., purpose and scope)

- Editors/Reviewers: Prohibited from using generative AI during the review process

- Permitted use of generative AI: Limited to improving readability and language expression; prohibited for creating text and generating/editing/synthesizing tables or figures (Exception: When AI is the research subject or used for data collection/analysis, detailed disclosure in Methods section required)

2) Code of Research Ethics Enhancements 

- Mandatory anonymization of participants and in-text confirmation of informed consent for human-subjects research

- Procedures clarified for rejecting submissions with ethical concerns during peer review and for post-publication corrections and retractions

[Regulation on the Review Process]

• Revision and effective date: January 2, 2026.

[Guidelines for Manuscript Submission and Code of Research Ethics]

• Revision date: January 2, 2026.

• Effective date: March 2, 2026 (two-month grace period from the revision date).

The revised Guidelines for Manuscript Submission and Code of Research Ethics will apply to manuscripts submitted on or after the effective date. However, given the journal's publication schedule and peer-review process, it is not feasible to ensure that all articles in a single issue follow the same version of the regulations. During a transition period, articles prepared under the previous and revised regulations may appear in the same issue. Full implementation across all articles is expected approximately six months after the effective date. Members are requested to review the revised regulations regarding the scope of permitted generative AI use and the declaration requirements for AI use before submitting manuscripts.
